Programme Description

Handwriting is a complex hand-eye coordination skill as it involves the usage of writing tools to complete the task. In children developmental milestones, children progress through a variety of writing stages, including scribbling, drawing, tracing and copying letters. They may vary in the rate they progress through these stages, but all children follow this general sequence.

Some individuals with autism may find handwriting extremely challenging as it involves the need for sustained attention, motor coordination, sequencing, letters and numbers recognition and many other skills in a highly complex hand-eye coordination-cognitive task.

In this experiential learning workshop, participants will be participating in a series of activities that addresses handwriting issues. They will get to experience the challenges faced by individuals in handwriting, try out equipment used in accommodating handwriting, and get involved in designing and implementing strategies to address handwriting issues
