Programme Description

This training programme provides professionals from mainstream educational settings with knowledge on the key characteristics of students with Autism. It is particularly relevant to those who want to better teach, support and interact with their students with autism. Participants will also learn basic classroom strategies to support the unique learning needs and information processing styles of your students.

Participants will acquire a fundamental understanding of the:

  • key characteristics of autism
  • unique learning needs, challenges and opportunities for students with autism
  • communication, social and emotional needs and styles

Learning Goals

Upon completion of the training workshop, participants will be able to:

  • appreciate the different ways in which students with autism perceive the world
  • acquire an awareness of the different ways in which students with autism learn
  • understand the reasons behind the difficulties faced by individuals with autism in learning, social interaction and communication
  • apply basic strategies when teaching, supporting and interacting with individuals with autism

Targeted Audience

  • Teachers/Educators, Therapists and other Professionals

  working with/caring for individuals with Autism (in Primary, Secondary or Higher Institute of Learning)
